"Panny" ... Today's Sharing the Love story,
Panny was found as a stray with a severe limp. A kind citizen called Isle of Wight County Animal Shelter to come pick her up. Her rear leg didn't seem to function well so volunteer Howard Holloman made sure she got to the vet for x-rays. There it was discovered that Panny's hip had been dislocated for a long period of time. Putting it back in place was likely to result in more dislocations. Chief Larry authorized volunteer Noa Alexander to call Dr. Carol Attia at Pungo Veterinary Clinic. After reviewing the x-rays, Dr. Attia agreed that the best thing to do was remove the ball joint of the hip and allow the muscle to take over. An FHO (femoral head osteotomy) was scheduled. Gimme Shelter covered the funds for the entire procedure. Howard Holloman kept Panny at his home until the surgery date and Noa Alexander drove her to Pungo Veterinary Clinic for the procedure. Dr. Attia and her wonderful staff operated on Panny and cared for every need for several days afterward. Panny has recovered very well, was spayed at the time of surgery, and is ready for the very last step in her journey…finding a forever home.
